Me-Made-May Day Six

Me Made May Day Six

I wore Simplicity 3542 today. This was the first vintage pattern I ever sewed so it has the dubious honour of being the dress that turned me into a vintage pattern addict.
I wore it to uni and on the bus on my way home the bus driver said to me, "It's so refreshing to see someone dressed like that." It made me laugh because I thought I looked pretty normal today (in comparasion to what I usually look like) but apparently not.

The hem looks uneven because the crinoline I was wearing was all bunched on one side which I didn't realise until later.

  2. What a fantastic comment from the bus driver! I love this dress and the color is great! I am about to revisit my first dress too (ahem, after a few alterations...heheheh)

  3. Fun dress! Is the white attached to the dress or is it an undershirt? Also, I'm in love with the belt and your shoes!

  4. Trisha- Thanks. The white is a blouse that's not attached. The pattern had a dickey but I didn't make it. I wanted to be able to wear all different tops under it.

  5. I love this outfit! The colours you wear are awesome. I think I need a green dress now. Have you ever made vogue 2960? It is a vintage reproduction pattern from vogue. I am thinking of making it for my boyfriend's little sisters 21st in July. I want to know if its very difficult.

  6. Thanks! No I haven't made Vogue 2960 but I would have a look on patternreview.com or sewretro.blogspot.com and see what others have said about it. It's a gorgeous pattern and it's rated easy so I think you should go for it. You could always do a muslin if you weren't sure about it. It's on sale for $5.99 at the moment on the Vogue website as well.
