Green Day

So, I have returned from my six week holiday in England. I had a great time seeing my relatives, trying as many Quorn products as possible and going to almost every charity shop in North Yorkshire. Today I wore a dress that I bought in England. It was from a vintage shop in Haworth called Oh La La. They had some fabulous stuff but I only got one dress because I didn't want to buy too much too early in my trip.

Here I am standing in front of Oh La La wearing a raincoat that I'd bought just minutes before at a Sue Ryder charity shop.

The raincoat came in handy because it rained and snowed quite a bit while I was there. It's been a bit of an adjustment going from the snow in England to the heat of summer here in New Zealand.

Dress: Oh La La
Cardigan: op shopped
Keds: op shopped
Socks: Columbine
Bag: op shopped
Sunglasses: Vintage shop

The bag and sunglasses are also from England. I bought the bag in a charity shop in Harrogate. I wasn't sure I would be able to bring it home because of it's size, but at £2 I had to get it. Luckily, I managed to fit it in. The sunglasses were from a vintage shop in Saltaire that I can't remember the name of.

    1. Thank you. Yes, there are. Yep, I think Haworth is where the Brontes lived and where two of them wrote their books. Thanks!

    1. Thanks! It is pretty but I got a bit sick of the snow. We get snow at home too so it wasn't that much of a novelty. Glad I could help.

    1. Thanks. That's a shame that you haven't had any snow. Although, the people that had tons are probably jealous of you.

  12. Welcome home! Did you have a good time despite all the snow? Don't worry about not being in touch, I guessed you would have a packed schedule.
I haven't been to Haworth in many years, last time I was there it certainly didn't have a vintage shop!
Your dress is a beauty, and thank goodness you managed to get that delicious bag back home! Sunglasses are much easier thing to pack! xxxx

    1. Thanks! Yes, I did. Haworth is lovely. The vintage shop is on the gorgeous little cobbled street. Thanks. Yes, I was worried the bag wouldn't get through customs as well but it was fine.

  14. God, that dress is amazing and fits you so well. I am also envious of your cardigan, it's so hard to find ones that are cropped in the right way to be worn with 50s dresses. I can't wait to see the rest of your finds too. Quorn is so good, my god. They just got it in at my local New World and I want to buy all the products but it's like $11 for a small pack of 'chicken' nuggets. I'm used to a super stingy chickpeas-and-tinned-tomato based diet so it's a bit much for me right now.

    1. Thanks. I know, I'm always trying to find good cropped cardigans. These days they only seem to make really long ones or boleros. Yes, Quorn is amazing. $11 is ridiculous though. I make 'chicken nuggets' by soaking tofu that's been frozen in vegetarian 'chicken' stock and breading them. They are delicious and pretty cheap to make.

  15. Welcome back!! Sounds like you had a fabulous time in England. Like many of the commentators I love the dress - the border print is amazing. I have no idea what Quorn is - some kind of vegetarian food? Looking foward to reading more about your English trip and the shopping.

    1. Thanks. I did. Quorn is a vegetarian fake meat product that's made out of some sort of fungus. They have all sorts of stuff like fake mince, chicken nuggets, steaks, burgers, sausages etc.
