Spring, spring, spring

I try not to wear pale colours because, as you can see, they tend to just blend in with my skin tone, but I love this dress. It has lots of lovely details, like shirring on the shoulders, a peter pan collar and piping at the waist. I took the hem up, because, although the original floor length was lovely, it wasn't very practical.

  1. Ahhh you look amazing. I wish you'd update your blog every day because it makes me want to make more of an effort. That dress is SO pretty, it is indeed a lot like my white one but significantly less poofy.

    1. Thanks! Ha, I'm too lazy to update every day but I am trying to update more. Yeah, you're white one is gloriously poofy. I think yours is probably a stiffer fabric than mine.

  2. This dainty dress makes me dream, such a pale precious colour and the headpiece is stunning...
Are they from the 40's or earlier? The original dress lenght seems more antique to me..anyway.. this is beauty!!

    1. Thanks! I'm not sure when it's from. It's handmade so there's no tag and it has a metal zip so it's probably 50s or earlier. I think it may have been a ball gown so that's probably why it was floor length.

  3. What a fabulous dress and headpiece. I'm wary of pale colours, too, but you look absolutely stunning. I like the black underneath. xxx

    1. Thanks! I sometimes wear a white slip underneath but I like the contrast of the black better, I think.

  4. This dress is amazing, I love dresses like this. I would have loved it longer, just because I always wear dresses longer and they are impractical, but I seem to do it anyways, tripping along the way ;) But, it looks gorgeous on you and I like it against your paler skin...beautiful xx

    1. Thanks! Yeah, it was lovely longer but it was so long I probably would have stepped on it and ripped it or something.

  8. What a divine dress! Love the colour and it really suits you.

That headpiece is gorgeous too - you always make me think I should put more effort into wearing vintage accessories. I have hardly any at the moment and I'm rubbish at working out what goes well with what, but you do it so well.
