Longline Bras

On my birthday op-shopping trip with my Mum I found three lovely old longline bras. I think Mum paid $1 each for them. I'm not sure what period they're from but they seem quite old. They have metal hardware on them so they must be vintage.

This one's made of cotton rather than stretch fabric.

They're in pretty good condition considering their age but I'll probably only wear the top one because the others seem rather delicate. I've seen lots of reproduction longline bras but they seem to be quite expensive so I'm glad I found some in an op-shop.

  1. what a fantastic find! I've been struggling for some time to locate some vintage bras so this gives me hope that there are still some around in NZ.

  3. Lovely find! I haven't seen any longlines in the thrift stores around me. I come across slips more than any other type of lingerie.

  4. Thanks. I usually only find slips too, that's why I was so excited when I found these.

  7. They are really comfortable, they don't have any underwire in them.

  8. I wonder if there is a source for longline bra pattern/materials?

  9. I don't know but if there was I would love to try and make one. I've actually been looking for a regular bra pattern lately but haven't had any luck.

  10. I love long line bras. Do you feel they restrict your movement a little more than a normal bra? I only have a couple and maybe it's due to ill fitting (I am on to buy something because of its beauty not its size) but some dig in at odd places and hold your shoulders down.

  11. I love them too. Mine are actually really comfortable, more so than the normal bras I wear. They're very stretchy, have adjustable straps and no underwire so that's probably why they don't restrict my movement.
