I saw this cherry headband on a few Australian blogs and immediately wanted one. Sadly, we don't have Sportsgirl here in New Zealand so I had to make my own.
The cherries are vintage millinery fruit from Paper Tales on Etsy. I just wrapped the wire stems around a headband and then glued them down.
It makes me feel a bit like I've got a christmas decoration on my head, but I like it.

I really like it! Looks great with your dark hair. Why buy when you can DIY :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, that's pretty much my life motto.
DeleteIt really stands out against the colour of your hair. That skirt is beautiful. Xx
ReplyDeleteHa, yet another reason to dye my hair more than once every six months. Thank you!
Deletewow, really love the cherry headband, it looks good on you :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lucia!
DeleteReally they won't post to NZ?
ReplyDeleteSportsgirl's online shop does post to NZ but when I checked months ago I couldn't find the headband on their website.
DeleteYou look gorgeous, love the head piece, that's really so silly they won't post to your place...shame!! But, thankfully you are crafty & was able to create something brilliant!! Have a wonderful weekend xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! Sportsgirl does post to NZ but they didn't have the headband on their website when I checked. You have a wonderful weekend too.
DeleteI love it! I am also rather partial to your lovely skirt too xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks! The skirt is a favourite.
DeleteIt's gorgeous, I love it. You've inspired me to have a go! Love the whole outfit, that skirt is a beauty! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks! That's great. I can't wait to see what you come up with.
DeleteAs usual, I get ready for work, sit down to look ast blogs and immediately wish i was wearing what you were!
ReplyDeleteWell, to be fair, if I was getting ready for work I probably wouldn't be wearing a cherry headpiece, but since I am not currently employed I can wear whatever I want.
DeleteI love it too. I really love that skirt also.. I see I'm not the only one.
ReplyDeleteCamelia, I wonder if I could ask a favour? A friend's mother is turing 80 and she's in Christchurch, I wonder if you could recommend somewhere nice for a morning or afternoon tea I could email and pay for and get a voucher to send her. She lost her husband last year and they were inseparable and her son (my friend) is going over for her birthday and I though that would be a nice gift... I mean what do you want when you're 80?? I have only met her once but I know she'd be chuffed. It's fine if it is in a big hotel in town (are there any still ok??) as I don't know where in Christchurch she lives and I don't want to ask my friend. Thanks if you can help. Regards Sofie
Thanks! I don't really go out for morning or afternoon tea that often but I'll try and help. Sweethearts at Berryfields is lovely. It's just out of Christchurch on a berry farm. They have a website (http://www.sweethearts.co.nz/) and you can probably email them. A lot of the central city has been demolished or is going to be including many of the big hotels. I'm not really sure if there are any left that do afternoon tea. The Christchurch Casino does high tea (http://www.chchcasino.co.nz/whats-on/high-tea-in-the-grand-caf%C3%A9) but I can't vouch for whether it's any good because I've never been. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
DeleteOh thank you for the quick and very helpful reply! I really appreciate it. I'll get onto the Berryfields one as I can't see my friend wanting to go to the casino! Than you so much again.
DeleteI love the headpiece, those red fruits are perfect on your raven black hair, great idea and it seems quite easy to do!The skirt is stunning too!
ReplyDeletexxxxx
Thanks! Yes, it was really easy. The hardest part was deciding where to place the different berries.
DeleteYou look great! I love vintage millinery, when I can afford it. The headband turned out great. It's always great when you can make something and it turns out great.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too. I usually can't afford it though. That's why I make my own.
DeleteWhat a great idea, the headband looks so pretty against your hair. Love the stripes and florals, that skirt is a beauty. xxx
ReplyDeleteThank you! I've had the skirt for years and it's still a favourite.
DeleteYou look so pretty. I love the idea of making a bunch of head pieces with different things glued on.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Stacy! Yes, you could do so many different ones.
DeleteVERY nice! Love the outfit
ReplyDeleteI like your thinking - and yours is more special because you made it and used vintage cherries not made in china ones. I love your outfit - the skirt is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteYes, vintage is always better. Thanks!
DeleteThat looks awesome! I love sportsgirl. They do some awesome stuff. I worked there when I was at uni.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'd never actually heard of Sportsgirl until I saw their cherry headband, but they look like they have some nice things.
DeleteVintage Millinery always looks better than new plastic anyhow! (I had to giggle over the title of this post because I JUST finished watching the Runaways movie which features that song.
ReplyDeleteYes, vintage anything is better than new. I love the Runaways, especially Joan Jett. The movie is quite good.
DeleteOh I love it too!!!!!! Just the cherry on top of such a very pretty lady.
ReplyDeleteOh oh the skirt is a wee dream.
