Vintage style flower necklace

I bought these cute floral buttons a couple of years ago. I planned to use them on a blouse but then I realised that the shape would make them awkward to do up and undo. They've been sitting in my button stash (yep, I've got a stash of those too) ever since. Then I saw a vintage floral celluloid necklace in this post on Va-Voom Vintage. I could use my buttons to make a vintage inspired necklace.

I got a chain and clasps. I used my trusty pliers (seriously, I use them all the time) to attach the clasp and the buttons to the chain.

The flowers aren't spaced unevenly, I just positioned the necklace funny when I took the photo

It was so quick and easy, and I really love it.

And here it is in action (not that you can really see it):

Vintage dress: Trademe
Shoes: Golden Ponies
Belt: Op shopped
Scarf: Belonged to my grandma
Bakelite bangles: Etsy and ebay
Necklace: I made it

  1. That's so pretty! The dress is lovely too.
I made a flower necklace out of glass seed beads once but it would not sit nicely at all which was a shame.

  2. That's so pretty and such a good idea. Button jewellery is quite popular over here, but it's usually buttons just threaded together on wire, this is so much nicer. I have a button stash too... and trusty pliers. x

  11. Hi Camelia,

You are so beautiful and the necklace took the place very very well on your neck. I think little care and beautiful ideas can really make anyone beautiful. Nice work. I would love to listen from you more.

  12. The necklace is gorgeous - I love the red and black together and it looks very like celluloid novelty jewellery that I *think* is from the 1940s. Love your dress too - I'm wearing a blue floral frock today as well :)
