It's very awkward trying to take pictures of your shoes while wearing them |
I wore a pair of 1970s platform shoes a couple of posts ago and
Vix wanted to have a closer look at them, so here they are.
|
I love the little peepholes on the front |
I bought them from Etsy and they were my first pair of '70s platforms. I have a small collection now (if three can really be counted as a collection).

L-R- op shopped, Etsy, Etsy |
I wear the cream ones the most. They are surprisingly comfortable. The red ones are really high (even though they don't look it in the photo), and I'm slightly afraid that I'm going to do a Naomi Campbell and fall on my arse. I was actually wearing the black and white ones when we had a 5.5 magnitude earthquake and I didn't fall over so I guess they're not too high.
Those white shoes are awesome! I wish I could find some cool vintage shoes but I have big feet so I can never find them in my size.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yeah, it can be hard finding bigger sizes with vintage shoes because the average shoe size has gone up three sizes since the 1950s.
DeleteI love them all!
ReplyDeleteMe too!
DeleteThey are BEAUTIFUL! And I believe you should have invented a new test of high-heeled-stability... The earthquake test.
ReplyDeleteNote to self: Proof before publish! What I meant to say was: I believe you HAVE invented....
DeleteThanks! Passing the 'earthquake test' should definitely be the new criteria for buying a pair of high heels.
DeleteSimply gorgeous!! I love that 70s platform era! Way to go. x
ReplyDeleteThanks! Me too. I think the 70s was the most inventive era for shoes.
DeleteSHOE LUST!!!
ReplyDeleteI have actually seen the cream ones in person, and they are indeed FABULARSEHOLE!!!
XXX
Thanks! I do believe that 'fabularsehole' is the greatest compliment they've ever received.
DeleteThey are very lovely! I do believe three and above constitutes a collection xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks! Well, in that case I have a fair few collections going on.
DeleteI adore them all, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
ReplyDeleteXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Me too!
DeleteI like them all!! The peephole at the front is so cute. I really like the red and white stripey ones. Shame they're a bit impractical. What an op shop find though. I would have them on a shelf in my living room! :) xx
ReplyDeleteYes, the peephole makes me smile every time I wear them. I have them on my book shelf and I have a couple of pairs of the most adorable 1940s shoes that don't fit me on a shelf in my sewing room.
DeleteGreat collection!I love them so much, these shoes are so amazing that can make every outfit shine!I really don't know which I prefer!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
xxxx
Thanks! I don't knoow which ones are my favourite either. I like different things about all of them. You have a wonderful weekend too.
DeleteOoh they are all lovely. I think the white ones are my favourite though. I love the lines of them - they remind me of all that fab sixties plastic furniture. So unusual with the peeptoe window too.
ReplyDeleteNikki x
Thanks! Yes, I love the curviness of the heel. You can't really see it in the photo but the metal circle around the peephole has little flowers on it too.
DeleteAll three pairs are wonderful, but I think the peephole ones are my favourites. Gorgeous! xxx
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yeah, the peephole ones are awesome.
DeleteOMG!!! Those shoes are incredible! The peep whole bit is so good, I love how it reminds you what colour tights you are wearing xx
ReplyDeleteThanks! Ha, yes that could be useful since I wear so many tights of different colours.
DeleteWOW those white shoes are fantastic! What an awesome score!
ReplyDeleteThanks! They are definitely one of my greatest purchases.
DeleteA small collection is better than no collection. I think it's really cool that you're wearing 70s platform straight for the 70s (no alterations). I wrote a post yesterday on how fashion is no longer about invention but about recycling. Your shoes are more proof that what I suspected is true.
ReplyDeleteThanks! You're right. It's kind of funny that recently 70s style platforms have become trendy again so people are wearing modern shoes that are similar to mine.
DeleteThank you so much! I absolutely love them and your other pairs are equally gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave you got teeny feet 'cos I find that nearly all the original platforms I come across are titchy? x
You're welcome! Yeah, my feet are quite small; size 5, which I think is a UK size 3? I'm pretty lucky because lots of vintage shoes fit me.
DeleteThose shirt are bloody brilliant! I wore a similar pair to the red ones when I got married. I considered bell bottoms too but I just didn't have the pins for it!
ReplyDeleteI wish I had the reply thing on my blog comments, but I can't acquire it no how!
Thanks! They must have looked awesome on your wedding day.
DeleteIf you go to your settings and change the comment location to 'Embedded', I think it lets you reply to the comments.
I love them all! Especially the black and white ones! I bet Vix is really jealous!
ReplyDeleteawesome! love them alllllllllllllllllll...
